Spring Has Sprung

It’s great that I get to start off spring with two weddings in May. Spring has always been one of the fondest times of my childhood that I can recall. From smelling the tulips in our neighbor’s garden to feeling the sand in my toes in our sandbox, I loved everything about Spring.  Although my favorite time of year has shifted towards fall, I still have a soft spot in my heart for spring. I really love the symbolism of getting married in the spring since it's the time of new birth and growth.  So twice this month, I get a front row seat to watch young love blossom into something wonderful!
Every wedding I photograph actually reminds me of all the butterflies in my stomach on my wedding day.   I overcame those jitters quickly because I was so excited to marry my best friend. I never knew where our journey would take us but like Spring, it truly was the start of something wonderful.
It's so amazing to watch a couple go through those same kind of feelings on their special day. It's even more amazing when they are able to express that through my lens. I love when I can get a couple to completely drown me out and focus on themselves, unscripted and unposed.   What’s even more amazing than that?  I usually friend all of my couples on social media and in doing so, I get to see my couples' lives unfold as time goes by.  I especially love to see when their babies start to come along and then getting to see all of the adorable baby milestones.  I’ve often wondered if I will still be shooting weddings when it comes time for my couples’ children to start marrying.  Scary thought!
All jokes aside, photography has really opened up a whole new world for me and has given me opportunities to do things I would have never imagined.  Wedding photography gives me a great opportunity to see love and express it in a way different than how most others see it.  So as I start off my wedding season, I am looking forward to capturing love and seeing what develops!
